Please read thoroughly as our policies may have been updated (last update: 4.13.24). To use our service is to accept and comply with our policies.

Estimates & Final Pricing

We discuss the policies regarding our estimates in more depth here (includes: price changes, project time frames, metal fastener removal fee, and other important information). Clients should make Kerrigan Restoration aware of any deadlines they may have and plan accordingly when scheduling their project. Our projects can take weeks or months to complete. Those who need their projects more immediately may be charged a 'rush fee' that ranges from 15% - 30% of total project costs. The exact amount will be determined by Kerrgian Restoration based on requested time frame as well as project details. Please note: expedited work requires expedited payment.

As with many businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased time frames for projects that are often outside our control. We appreciate your understanding, patience, and flexibility.  In relation to Covid-19, please see our face mask policy.

Deposits & Payments

 

A deposit (usually 25% of the total estimated cost) will be required on projects that exceed $500 and/or require special or substantial materials. (Dealers, designers, companies, institutions, and governing bodies should refer to our deposit calculator to learn more about deposit percentages.) This deposit will be due at pickup. No work will begin until the deposit has been received.

Deposits are non-refundable unless work on your project has not yet begun. Clients must then promptly pick up their items from the Kerrigan Restoration workspace to have their deposit returned. Kerrigan Restoration can return your items, but will subtract delivery costs (min. 1 hour of current shop rate) from the returned deposit. Additionally, the cost of any materials purchased specifically for your project will automatically be withheld from any returned deposit.

 

All invoiced payments are due upon receipt of the delivered goods. If payment is unavailable at that time, the company may retain the items until the client can produce payment (if applicable, an additional delivery fee may be charged). If Kerrigan Restoration allows payments to be mailed, the payment shall need to be received within 14 days of date on emailed invoice. Clients with a pattern of late payments will need to provide a deposit up front before work begins (even if the project is below our normal $500 threshold). The percentage of the deposit will be listed on your estimate. This deposit requirement may be lifted if delays in payments can be improved.

 

Accepted payment methods are cash or check. Checks must be made out to 'Kerrigan Restoration': a reminder will be placed on your invoice. We do not accept other forms of payment at this time. With prior notice, Kerrigan Restoration is willing to work with clients who may have difficulty using these payment methods. Bounced checks are subject to any and all bank fees.

Project Documentation

The company reserves the right to document in any way any and all stages of provided services for distribution in both analog and digital media. This includes posting this documentation on social media, the company website, and other sites. Clients may request exemption from having their items documented at the time of pickup. The use of our services beyond this point forfeits any claims to exemption.

Storage Fees

 

The workspace available to Kerrigan Restoration demands that completed projects be delivered or picked up by clients in a timely fashion. Clients will be notified via phone or email regarding the completion of their project. Clients who do not take delivery of their items within 30 days of notice of completion will be charged a monthly storage fee equivalent to 20% of invoice total (minimum one month charge). Clients who have been charged the storage fee in the past will see a 15% increase to the storage fee (35% in total) on future storage fees.

Clients who have furniture in our studio for more than 30 days without approving work may be charged similarly. These projects may also lose their place in line to be worked on.

'Gift Restoring' & Vouchers

Kerrigan Restoration offers an option of 'gift restoring' a piece of furniture for a loved one. You can choose to 'gift' a certain value towards a restoration for another person, or 'gift' the full value of a restoration. These 'gift restorations' differ from your average 'gift certificates' in that we only collect funds when the project begins. You don't pay in advance in hopes one day the recipient decides to use your gift. We can guide you on average expenses for a project you might have in mind to fund, but every project is different and final pricing may vary. Please call or email to start the process.

Vouchers may be issued by Kerrigan Restoration as a donation to a community or charitable event and can be used by the receiver towards our services on a current or future project. Vouchers are not redeemable for cash, must be surrendered to be used, and are valid for five years from date of issue. Copies (physical or digital) will not be accepted. Vouchers will have a date of expiry printed on them. Any unused portions will be rendered void beyond the date of expiry or if the company ceases to exist (whichever comes first). Please check the voucher itself for other details.

Please note: Vouchers, having not been purchased from us directly, means Kerrigan Restoration does not have a record of a proof of purchase; therefore if lost will not be honored or reprinted. Treat these documents as you would cash. In general, we recommend using vouchers sooner than later as they lock you in to receiving a certain value of our labor but our hourly rate may increase and your voucher may not have the same purchasing power over time.

Inclement Weather / Closing

Kerrigan Restoration reserves the right to cancel any deliveries, pick ups, house calls, and/or estimates due to inclement or potentially inclement weather conditions. We will notify clients of our decision and reschedule. We also reserve the right to cancel any deliveries, pick ups, house calls, and/or estimates if the client has not adequately cleared any snow, ice, or other obstacles from driveways, walkways, and stairs that might hinder safe passage. In these cases, we will reschedule and a charge for our time (min. 1 hour) will be added to your invoice.

The studio may also close for any reason on short notice which may affect deadlines. All efforts will be made to keep unscheduled closures to a minimum and we apologize for any inconvenience such disruptions may cause.

Workshop Visits

We are happy to have visitors, whether you are dropping off a project or are just interested in seeing our studio. However, you must schedule an appointment ahead of time and follow our face mask policy. Dropping by unannounced (or giving very little notice) is strongly discouraged and you might be (politely) turned away.

Our workshop space is often full projects as well as tools with sharp edges. Be mindful of how you navigate the space and do not touch anything that does not belong to you. Finishes that may appear dry can be highly impressionable and you will be invoiced for any damages you or any members of your party cause, accidental or otherwise.

Trained service animal are welcome, but understand that there may be wood shavings, an errant nail or screw, or other debris on the ground. Kerrigan Restoration will not be responsible if any animal is harmed in any way by these items. Other pets are allowed, but generally discouraged. Owners are responsible for any damages caused by any animal.

Warranty

Kerrigan Restoration stands behind our quality work. If any of our repairs or finish work fails due to defective materials or workmanship within 10 years from invoice date, Kerrigan Restoration LLC will repair, restore, or refinish to resolve the issue 100% free of charge.

 

The warranty does not cover repairs or finish work that are deemed defective due to (but not limited to) misuse, neglect, accidents, improper or aggressive cleaning, UV / moisture / heat damage, unsuitable storage and handling, and/or normal wear and tear. (We have provided some information about different types of repair failures for  your review.)

 

Exterior furniture or objects do not qualify for this warranty. Clients will be informed of this exemption before we agree to take on exterior work. Should circumstances merit, other kinds of projects may also fail to qualify for this warranty on a case by case basis and will require client approval.
